Is it that time already? Yes, I have another Series Spotlight to both shock and amaze you. Kidding, but seriously though. I know I have already gone fangirl pretty hard over Jennifer Armentrout on my blog before BUT she is my favorite author when it comes to paranormal YA books. I have read most of her stuff and I am never disappointed, which says a lot considering how picky I am.  Here is another example of an awesome group of books that she has put out. White Hot Kiss is the first of three books in the Dark Elements Series, and as with all other series that I review, this will remain spoiler free.

Description:

Some loves will last ’til your dying breath

Every choice has consequences—but seventeen-year-old Layla faces tougher choices than most. Light or darkness. Wickedly sexy demon prince Roth, or Zayne, the gorgeous, protective Warden she never thought could be hers. Hardest of all, Layla has to decide which side of herself to trust.

Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin—the deadliest of demons—has been unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her…including her best friend. To keep Sam from a fate much, much worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with the enemy while saving her city—and her race—from destruction.

Torn between two worlds and two different boys, Layla has no certainties, least of all survival, especially when an old bargain comes back to haunt them all. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side—and then fight like hell…

Spotlight Review:

To say that I love this series would be a complete understatement. I have re-read these three books about fifteen times in the last few years and every time I get sucked back in just like it was the first time. Awww.. the feels. Armentrout has created such strong characters in Layla, Roth and Zayne that I became emotionally invested in all of them. I loved the plot and the way that there were several moments where I thought I might implode if I didn’t get what I wanted. The world building is great and Armentrout manages to turn something completely unbelievable and fantastical into a reality the reader wouldn’t mind living in.

I usually despise love triangles but the one in the Dark Elements Series is totally do-able. In most cases, I feel like they become pretty redundant and I get annoyed because I just want the stupid girl to make her mind up and quite torturing the guys and the reader. Yet, with Layla, Zayne and Roth it actually felt like it helped further develop the plot rather than muddy it.  The heat between Layla and both guys is ridiculous.

The bottom line: you just need to read this. Really, it is that good.
